Questions about Quercetin bioavailability

Original post in this thread

I have read many conflicting studies on the relative bioavailability of Quercetin. I know there are manufacturers that use lecithin to create “phytosome” versions to increase absorption and utilization, but I also know that sometimes just taking a greater amount of a lesser bioavailable form is often the most economical option. Do you guys at ND (or anyone else) have any guidance or knowledge on this?

Here is an example for illustration purposes only; not speaking about the quality of the study at all, just to show the type of study that makes it confusing to pick a quality quercetin supplement:
https://www.nutraingredients-usa.com/Article/2018/10/30/Overcoming-the-low-bioavailability-hurdle-of-quercetin-Indena-study-supports-phytosome-use-to-boost-absorption

“Despite the potential benefits, bioavailability of quercetin is low with estimations that only 20% of the administered dose reaches the blood.
This is where Indena’s use of a delivery system based on food-grade lecithin offers a solution: According to data published in European Journal of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics the Quercetin Phytosome (Quercefit) proved to be up to 20-fold more bioavailable.”

Same here - EMIQ made me a nervous wreck.
Phytosome on the other hand worked fine - but so does your regular quercetin. Might even be a bit more stimulating, in a positive sense.

Good to know! I really like our quercetin myself. I will definitely try some of the phytosome as well, though.

Have you tried our hesperidin yet?

petition for ND to change the filler 'maltodextrin' to something else

We almost never use maltodextrin in our formulations. We purposely avoid it, not because of compelling science, but because it is just easier to agree and move on than fight that fight. However, what most consumers don't
