i'm here to learn, and i'm scared of the idea of democracy ruining this sub as socrates describes , when too many people who think they know something join a subject discussion they eventually drown out the people who do actually know, i would like something like reddit but where a person's qualifications or such are visible or measurable in a way to determine how knowledgeable in a field, i'm trying to think of a way to make it peer reviewed without it being taken over by average users.

Why would qualifications matter to a factual discussion? If a claim is posted, and that claim is factual and sourced, why would the personal details of the poster matter? Also, there are plenty of people with qualifications that post incorrect and false information. On top of that, appeals to authority are a big problem, too. What we should be striving for is objective and factually sourced data. Leave the people out of it. Discuss the facts.
In addition, many people here are just everyday consumers posting their personal reactions and responses to things. That is subjective by definition. Do we delete subjective posts? Do we attempt to manually verify the situation surrounding their reaction before allowing them to post? Who makes the determination? Do you want me filtering everything you see here? There is a balance to completely and open free dialog and locked down and manually verified accounts. Finding that balance is not easy; especially as the sub grows.
