No worries, I understand how “moderate” can come across as delete all

You make some great points. These are the type of discussions moderators of all kinds of subs should be having, especially when they are this large

Private discussions, as well as public discussions are integral to maintaining a strong community.

Regarding flairs. It allows moderators and users alike to more quickly sift through the posts. And by using flairs, it requires posters to mentally categorize their own post.

For example, we could introduce a "Experience report" flair that categorizes all posts that are about a single experience. There could be an Experience Report template that people could use. This would create more constancy across the anecdotes. This template would also allow people to more efficiently collect data over time on a specific nootropic for example.

Or maybe there's a "Retrospective" flair, where a user writes about their experience with a nootropic over the long term. Other flairs could be "Paper/Research", "News", "Off-topic", "Question"

In doing so, we will have a much clearer idea of what we are reading, we will also be able to find stuff more quickly, and most of all, it reinforces the delineation between an "Experience Report" and "Research". This clearly separates the two. Both are useful but serve very different purposes. This also allows new users to quickly…

I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone.. We already have those flairs! Experience report is already a flair. Scientific study is already a flair! I implemented those flairs years ago here on /r/Nootropics. Add more to the sidebar? Look at the sidebar and actually click on it. The FAQ is huge, but nobody actually clicks and reads it. Weekly threads? We had those, but everyone voted that they were not helpful, so we stopped them. I really am confused here, because all your suggestions already exist.

Also, flaring posts doesn't magically make good content appear. That still falls to all of you. Posts like this have been made here on /r/Nootropics pretty much every year since I became a mod. Everyone complains about the lack of good posts, but they don't go out and make good posts of their own. I'll say the same thing I have said on every single post like this since the beginning of this sub: be the change you want to see in the sub. If you want more scientific discussion, post it! Start the discussion. I can create more flairs if people want, and provide all the structure in the world. However, I can't magically create all the good content for them.
