No, that's right. That's how you quantitate total anthocyanins in tart cherry. It's the USP method. You use the cyanidin 3-rutinoside standard, and report the total of all of them as cyanidin 3-rutinoside equivalents. The cyanidin part of the structure is shared between all three of them, and that is where the chromophore is. So while you will get shifting retention times between them, the response factors are the same. In instances like those, where you are doing total of a grouping of compounds, you report X% as X equivalent. As I stated, we would need to buy the reference standards for the other two and modify the USP methods to give an exact number for each one. We ran the USP method and reported total anthocyanins as USP dictates.
