NMN, Niacin, NAD +, and Addiction

Original post in this thread

I was really fascinated to see studies supporting the idea that NAD therapy could be a used pretty straightforwardly as a treatment for addiction:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7278809/

It seems clear that NMN is one of the best oral routes to raise NAD levels, but there also seems to be evidence that straight niacin can raise NAD levels, at least in individuals considered deficient:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32386566/

The substance itself, and its systemic effects is quite exciting, but even more wild is that the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, Bill W., was an extremely fervent (really almost religious) advocate of high doses of niacin for treating alcohol addiction. The fact that this seems to be supported, at least in theory, is pretty wild. I am always shocked when things that are viewed strictly as quackery (and I know there is indeed a lot of that) turn out to be validated. A bit like IV vitamin c being totally written off, and now being used in major hospitals to treat sepsis. Anyways, I wonder if anyone had any experiences, or thoughts to share on…

Yeah I suppose even if true this would be more of an issue for elderly folks (who would theoretically have many more senescent cells) using it for the anti-aging purposes rather than someone younger using it for general performance/energy/quality of life.

And then I think the idea would be to use some form on senolytics (quecetin, egcg, pterostilbene, curcumin, etc) prior to the NMN to first decrease senescent cells. But I have no idea what the timing, protocol, etc would like like, just speculating.

Yeah, it is definitely an interesting theory. I have been a bit more inflamed lately, but I have been moving houses and lifting a lot of stuff. So it is hard to say what is having the most effect there.

I am always trying new things that we are working on. So at any one point in time my stack will be different. However, I do have some staples in my base stack that stay there pretty consistently. * CoQSol-CF * Reacta-C

Replying to Socialfilterdvit · Nice! I haven't researched all the supplements I take with regards to bioperene or piperine. I take both just in case and piperine for its additional benefits

Bioperine is just a trademarked name for piperine. They are the same thing. Piperine only improves bioavailability of some things, like curcumin or EGCG. It can also make some drugs you are on reach too high of plasma le

Longvida would be my suggestion. It crosses the BBB and is a good antioxidant. There is some evidence that curcumin can help with hearing issues. [Curcumin Reduces the Noise-Exposed Cochlear Fibroblasts Apoptosis](https

Replying to Fusion_Health · I’m not advocating a full gram, I personally take just 1 of your NMN tablets. That said I’ve tried up to 375 mg at one go, with and without resveratrol, and I’ve never noticed any

On its own, no. The energy I am feeling is more from the combo of NMN with CoQSol-CF, berberine, Longvida, and possibly zinc. 250 would be too much for me with my current stack. It likely would not on its own. The 375mg
