I have been on zoloft for around two years, and while it has been effective for depressive thoughts, the cognitive dulling, and libido issues were starting to get to me. Though first of all I would like to say that for a large segment of those with MDD, that anti depressants will actually increase cognition, once your brain is back to where it was prior to the depression, is when you can start to notice the major dulling. Depression can cause severe psychomotor retardation(decreased cognitive tempo), brain atrophy, hpa dysfunction, and make you slow as molases, with a nasty case of leaden paralysis and apathy. This is all well documented so I won't bother getting into it. I am a firm believer that taking pharmaceutical SSRI's outweighs the risk/damage that will been done if left unmedicated(which happens, usually due to the misinformation).
So with this said, as an experimental person by nature, and being in a position to do so, I decided to see if Zembrin really could match up against a pharmaceutical SSRI. Zembrin is a proprietary extract of Kanna, special in it's production, and alkaloid contents. It has both SSRI, and PDE4 inhibiting properties. Which IMO makes it very specia…

As I have heard. Such as liftmode's. Though the issue is that those have not been studied as much as Zembrins formulation(which I do understand, many if not all of those studies do have a conflict of interest). Correct me if I am wrong, but Zembrin seems to be the go to extract for someone looking for therapeutic benefits, whilst other extracts are more so recreational benefits - or so one would be led to believe in places like the Kanna sub. People seem to be looking for the highest alkaloid contents, and the quickest route of administration(i.e snorting powder), as they are seeking a euphoric rush, rather than a chronically dosed therapeutical medicine. Then they usually complain about tolerance, and that Kanna has no cognitive benefits, and this all goes back to the way they are using it. High dose looking for a rush, end-up feeling spacey and nauseous. This is why Zembrins alkaloid content is ideal IMO.
Maybe u/MisterYouAreSoDumb can chime in here, as he has done some research into Zembrin/Kanna extracts.
This is one of the reasons I wanted to get my report out here, so we can actually discuss these extracts for chronic use, as the majority of information is acute "trip" reports.

Zembrin is standardized to mesembrenone, not mesembrine like most. That is a PDE4 inhibitor. The issue is that most labs cannot test for mesembrenone, and reference standards are impossible to come by. So even testing for it, much less standardizing to it, is difficult.
