FDA's Letter to Tailor Made Compounding Pharmacy
What they were answering

Better to have one supplier that one country uses than having everyone ordering randomly from random chinese suppliers.
There must be different levels of requirement, and a compounding pharmacy which makes custom orders should absolutely not have to suffer same level of scrutiny as a drug company shelling out millions of doses per batch. Because that only results in it being impossible to do business, and the customers are driven underground.

Either something is tested and verified, or it isn't. Size of the company selling it shouldn't matter. In the end, a human is putting it into their bodies. They need to trust that it is the correct compound and not full of impurities. That's why companies have margins. The premium you pay should cover the steps the company needs to do to ensure things are right. If you are paying higher prices for something, but the company is not doing any testing, what's the point? They have the margins to do it, but choose not to. It's the responsibility of Tailor Made to ensure things are correct for the health and safety of their customers. They were not doing any of it. So at that point you might as well just go to Alibaba and select a supplier at random. I am not suggesting you do that, but that's essentially what Tailor Made has forced people to choose between. Pay more for them to just be a middle man, or save money and roll the dice yourself. You were already rolling the dice with Tailor Made, you just didn't know it.
