ND edits reviews and doesn't tell you before or after you post it?

Original post in this thread

I submitted a review for the KSM-66 capsules yesterday, and I went back to read it after it officially posted to make sure I didn't make any major typos or anything, and I noticed that a couple things were definitely changed from how I originally wrote it. Nothing big, but they changed any time I wrote the word anxiety and replaced it with anxiousness or anxious feelings about...

I'm a little concerned by this. While they didn't change anything about the overall message of my review, they did change some words and that bothers me. If they're willing to do that without disclosure, what else could they be changing on other reviews? What if they're changing certain words on negative reviews to make them less harsh? Idk. It's just sketchy.

Yes, absolutely we do. You cannot talk about diseases on the site. Period. That's a FDA regulation. We have dealt with serious legal issues surrounding this in the past, and are constantly fighting this battle. Most of the time I cannot discuss these legal matters publicly. I wish I could talk about it all with you guys, because it's fucking bullshit what we have to go through. However, sometimes I am under NDAs, and it is just not a good idea to discuss litigation in a public setting. The gist of it is that we have to be VERY careful about the wording that appears anywhere on our site. The big ones are diseases. Absolutely under no circumstances will we allow the mention of diseases on the site. This not only includes our direct marketing statements, blog content, or product descriptions, but also includes customer reviews. If you talk about a disease, we have to reword or remove it. If you are making a review for something that does not strictly meet the definition of a dietary supplement, we also cannot allow effect, dosing, or structure/function claims. This is going to be a big one for many, but our hands are tied. I have fought this fight for you guys, because I think customers should be able to say what they want to say. However, I have been forced to concede on this issue. I can't talk about the details surrounding why, but anyone that knows me knows that we only do things like this for very deliberate and valid reasons. If this was not a very serious issue, we would not be forced down this path. However, it is very serious. I can't stress to you all how serious it is. If you want this company to exist in a few years time, this is hard line that we cannot budge on. I'm deadly serious here. I am sure many people remember my tone and wording I was using before I shut Ceretropic down. If you don't want us to be here on Reddit in two years talking about the good old days when Nootropics Depot was still running, this is not an issue that we can debate. I always fight for you guys; for your right to buy the products you want to buy, and to talk about the things you want to talk about. I have fought that fight for almost a decade now. I am telling you right now, unless we can very deliberately control the wording and content that shows up anywhere on our site, I am going to lose that fight.

So again, I apologize for any confusion or misunderstanding in the matter. We do have a section in our terms and conditions about the issue. However, I know shit like this can be very confusing for a lot of people that are not privy to what goes on in this industry. It doesn't make sense to most consumers. Frankly, I personally think it is bullshit. The issue is that laws and regulations don't really care about what I think, nor does our legal system make sense most of the time. I've sat in legal meetings with dozens of lawyers now, for literally hundreds of hours of deep discussion surrounding various matters in the legal arena. We don't just have a lawyer, we have a team of lawyers that are dealing with multiple issues at any one point in time. If you guys had sat in some of these meetings with me, and heard some of the things that were said, you would be dumbfounded. It's seriously some of the most disheartening shit I have ever had to deal with. However, I have to deal with it all to ensure the long-term safety and stability of this company. It might seem like all daises and butterflies on the outside to customers, because that is our job. We deal with all the bullshit in the background so that you guys can have an easy to use site to get some of these novel things; things that you know are properly tested and that you don't have to worry about. But make no mistake about it, we are in a constant battle in the background. When you guys are happily ordering something from our site, then seeing it ship out an hour later without a hitch, it's very likely that at that moment I am coming out of a legal meeting with my heart in my stomach. If I am not smart about this fight now, the last thing on your mind in a few years will be the wording you can use on a review. I cannot make that any more clear.
