Why silicon dioxide ?
u/MisterYouAreSoDumb
It's a flow agent to ensure the capsules stay consistent over the encapsulation machines. You have 7 different powders in there, all with different densities and particle sizes. We try to avoid magnesium stearate when we can, because people freak out over that... even though there is ZERO evidence it is an issue. It's such a dumb situation, but people freak out over magnesium stearate because they read some asshat blogger that has no business spreading fake science. That's even though those same people eat foods with stearic acid and magnesium naturally in them every day. It's dumb. So we try to avoid using it if we can, and silicon dioxide works in some instances. Excipients and flow agents are used in 99% of capsule products. It's just that many brands don't list them. That's against regulations, but there is almost a zero percent chance anyone would find out. So they break the rules to prevent people from freaking out. We don't. We list every single thing in the products.
Silicon dioxide is natural and perfectly safe. It occurs naturally in most leafy green vegetables, beets, bell peppers, brown rice, oats, and alfalfa. It's also already in many tissues in the human body. So it is not something scary to worry about, and we only use it in very small amounts as an anti-caking and flow agent. Otherwise the capsule fills would not be as consistent, and you might get very different doses from one capsule to another.
