Im really considering buying Real Mushroom’s Lions Mane product. I just seen so many threads on this and how Host Defense includes mycelium (root of mushroom) thats turned into grain. I should avoid the latter. Im new to the Nootropics game but Im gonna finish this bottle of Host Defense and grab myself another product. What do you yall think?

Host defense grows their products in grain, such as rice. They take that grain, with the mycellium, which are like the "roots" of the fungus, and grind it up with the fruiting body (the mushroom) and then test for polysaccharides, i.e. starch i.e. the rice, and say "it's standardized to 95% polysaccharides" or whatever number they claim. So you're paying for a much less pure product with host defense because you have a bunch of rice in your product, whereas with nootropics Depot they only use the fuiting body of the mushroom, so you're not getting ripped off

Host Defense grinds up the myceliated rice before it ever grows fruiting bodies. There are no fruiting bodies of any kind in the Host Defense product.
