Lions mane: extract or powder, what is suggested?

I see that you are selling the 8:1 water/ethanol dual extract as well. I was assuming that the water extract you have been selling still allowed for absorption of all the constituents in the fruiting bodies as nothing is wasted or removed.
I understand that ethanol can extract out particular compounds but is the extraction necessary when the hot water extract preserves everything and allows for more absorption?
I only ask due to the price difference. Thanks!

Correct, our 1:1 "extract" doesn't lose any material. Consider it powdered lion's mane that has used hot water to break down the chitin in the cell walls. It's not a traditional solvent extraction, so you don't lose the non-water-soluble compounds like a full water extraction would. It is the most like what is used in the human clinical studies.
Our 8:1 is a traditional solvent extraction, using water and ethanol. So you concentrate the soluble compounds, and discard the insoluble ones. Is it necessary? Not if you react well to the 1:1. We were just trying to make an extract like the old 10:1 we used to sell, but with the fruiting bodies.
