Lions mane: extract or powder, what is suggested?

What they were answering

I didn't say Oriveda brand was clinically studied. Amycenone has been. Anyone can determine for themselves if the research or quality of the extract is suitable for their needs.

As far as Erinacines I never made any claims for them regarding human research simply that studies has shown them to have NGF effects and they are present more in the mycelium.

There are clinical studies on Yamabusitake. But without any standardized of NGF chemicals there is factually no way to insure you are getting them or any effects of NGF just by taking any Lion's Mane extract as the quality varies. I see it more as hopeful.

I see nothing wrong with the quality of Nammex mushroom products but I don't see anything that would lead me to buy them over the 2 other brands.

Sorry if I inferred you were speaking about Oriveda, rather than Amyloban/Amycenone. I also copied a lot of the above post from other PMs/comments I made to other people. So some of the direction and tone may not have been consistent.

I completely agree. Hopefully we are closer to proving that with some HPLC methods we recently found. The main problem with the cultured mycelium extract is that the only Erinacine A standard I can find is like $22,000 for 5mg, or something crazy like that. Since you have been finding some standards I seem to have missed lately, perhaps you know of a more reasonable Erinacine A standard? Quantifying the other NGF-promoting compounds in the fruiting bodies is a bit harder, as they have only recently been elucidated. It seems that even Amyloban is only standardized to hericenones. So even that extract, while still having human clinical research, can't factually prove it is increasing NGF. A lot more needs to be done in this area to set proper standardizations for lion's mane.

This is part of the wholesale price list for "Nammex", the supplier of mushroom powders that many companies repackage/encapsulate and sell for a huge profit margin

Replying to eclecticlove1 · So where do you get the powder for the 8:1 dual phase extract?

We have our own suppliers, just like we do for all our ND branded products. They make it to our specifications. Then we test them in our lab for ID, content, beta-glucans, heavy metals, and now residual solvent residues.

Why the lion's mane you're buying is probably bunk.

First off, our Lion's Mane is not a traditional water extract. The water is used to break down the chitin in the cell walls, but the entire mushroom material is kept in. So you don't lose anything that you would with a f

We are absolutely NOT done with new products. We are in the thick of development for a bunch of them. Some of them are just taking longer than expected to get perfect, so we have had a lull in releases. That's just becau
