Ceretropic Caffeine/NALT white residue

I noticed today that my bottle of the Ceretropic solution had this thick white residue on it. I haven't spilled anything on it but it is quite solid and smells bad. The white reside originates from the plastic part of the dropper. The solution is clear and there is nothing in the glass part either.
It has been getting exposed to indoor light, maybe it went bad? Has anyone else had this issue?

Neat! Me at home I've been dissolving caffeine into water as far as I can take it without supersaturation (like 500mg in 30 ml) because all I have on hand is distilled water -- Does caffeine remain suspended in the liquid successfully beyond it's supersaturation point (e.g no solvents such as citric acid)?
EDIT: Looked it up. Nope. Can't beat chemistry -- damn. Cool looking crystallization though.

Caffeine will remain in aqueous solution if the water is heated. The solubility lowers as temperature lowers. However, 500mg in 30ml is nowhere close to saturation. We have 200mg in every milliliter of our solution.
