Moderators: Why is flair limited to distributors? Could we add flair based on our qualifications (i.e., PhD, PharmD, graduate student, nutritionist, etc.)?

Knowing if what we are reading is coming from a trained professional is certainly worth noting when considering supplementation.

I agree that there are plenty of good discussions from just regular dudes on here and also the most important thing is citation from actual studies. I do think that listing credentials would ultimately benefit conversation, adding relevance, and experience to the discussion. Considering people with doctorates or other degrees in the field are probably still in the vast minority around here, I doubt it would detract from the conversations, lead to an appeal for authority, and nothing should ever decrease the necessity of sourcing.

Verifying everyone might be a challenge. I think a good option is for the mods to come up with a list of qualifications they deemed relevant and for people who met those and wanted to have a flair added to their username provide proof within that post in whatever form necessary.

It could certainly be useful. More information is always useful. It's just how well things are implemented, and how many people use them, which will determine the benefit. If those in the community that have relevant qualifications actually think they will request tags, then it could be good.
