Moderators: Why is flair limited to distributors? Could we add flair based on our qualifications (i.e., PhD, PharmD, graduate student, nutritionist, etc.)?

Knowing if what we are reading is coming from a trained professional is certainly worth noting when considering supplementation.

Yea I don't think it's a bad idea. It could be beneficial. It might lead to lazy arguments. My biggest worry would be a selection effect where the people who seek out verification might also be the people who want to win arguments with credentials alone.

I think it could work out though, if people see it as a sign to read more carefully and possibly ask more probing questions. People might learn a lot if they know who is likely to have deep knowledge.

Yeah, I am 50/50 on it. I could see it going both ways. We'd just have to probably adjust things a bit, and make sure appeals to authority and arguments about qualifications don't get out of control. That's true about the selection bias as well. Many of the more knowledgeable people with qualifications might not see the need to have their titles flaunted, which would lead to only the ones looking for validation trying to get the tag. It's hard to say how it will go ahead of time.
