Same product, different vendors, different results. Is this normal? Powder City/Ceretropic

Due to the Great Powder City Crisis of 2016 I had to find another source for my Adrafinil. I researched reputable vendors and finally settled on Ceretropic. My experience with PC's Adrafinil has always been clean, long lasting and extremely effective. The Adrafinil from Ceretropic felt off, clunky and delayed. I had to reconfigure dosage all over again even though I've been using Adrafinil for almost a full year now, in the end wasting product and therefore money. I am not saying that something is wrong with Ceretropic's product, only that it did not give me the specific effects that I have come to associate with Adrafinil.
What I want to know from you, O Great Reddit Community, is if differences like these are to be expected from one vendor to the next, or if nootropics and their effects are generally consistent across the board. I have only ever used PC, so I have nothing but this one instance to use as a comparison.
I'd just like to have a reliable backup in case something like this temporary shortage happens again in the future. What say you, wise ones? Should I expect similar experiences in the future with other companies? Have you?

I received my last order of Adrafinil from PC on July 8, 2016. I don't have any more from that order. I do use a scale. When I say clunky I mean that the Adrafinil that I recieved from Ceretropic did not last as long with the same amount as the Adrafinil from PC. Also, while effects were present, they weren't as pronounced and seemed to start and stop. For example, if I took it for wakefulness after a long night when I had to be up and productive early the next morning, I'd still be tired whereas I've never had that problem with any order from PC. I have changed absolutely nothing else in my diet, noortropic regimen or daily activities. I do understand that everyone is different and there are a number of reasons why I could have experienced a change in response to Adrafinil and that it might have happened even if I had continued to use the same product.
My intention was not to accuse any company of delivering a sub-par product. I only wanted to know if anyone had ever experienced any differences in ANY nootropic from one vendor to another. I used Adrafinil as the EXAMPLE because it's the only one I've had from two different companies.
On a separate subject, the Adrafinil that I've always received has always been white but the Adrafinil from Ceretropic was pink-ish. I hadn't heard of Light vs Dark Adrafinil before this. Can you please explain the difference between the two ot…

Ahh, so they did send you the lighter Adrafinil! That can certainly be why you are getting different effects. We used to carry both the light and dark Adrafinil, till we could no longer find the light version anymore. We tried 6 different suppliers, and they all switched over to the dark kind. There are two different synthesis methods for Adrafinil. One leads to a light fluffy kind, while the other leads to a dark dense kind. We have not been able to figure out what the difference is between them, as they all match FTIR spectrums, HPLC purity, and pH in solution. However, some people do respond to one over the other. We did a poll, and 80% of the people said they reacted best to the dark dense kind, and only 20% said they reacted best to the light fluffy kind. You seem to be one that reacts better to the lighter version.
I am still trying to figure out exactly why some people react to one over the other, or what exactly the difference is between them. None of our analytical equipment has been able to tell what the difference is. I also sent off to another 3rd party lab, and they could not find a difference. So I am stumped as to why some people react better to one over the other, or why one is a lighter color than the other. I've been trying to figure it out for over 2 years with no luck.
