According to Forbes article : "The CDC has reported in July that kratom can be abused and that poison control centers have received over 660 calls between 2010 and 2015 regarding kratom intoxication. "
Funny thing is I found this on alcohol abuse: "Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010"
So basically they are putting something on Schedule I which is 700 times less harmful to society than Alcohol.

There were 35,000 calls to poison control centers in 2014 alone for antihistamines. 35,000! I bet poison control centers got more calls about farts between 2010 and 2015 than they did kratom.
