I don't get as hungover. Why?

I used to get brutal hangovers. I'd basically spend the next day on the couch until 5:00 PM or so. But I don't anymore, which is weird since I am getting older, so if anything, I'd expect hangovers to be worse. My hangovers now are very noticeably better than they used to be. So here are the supplements I take and other changes I made:
* Turmeric
* N-acetyl cysteine
* Alpha Lipoic Acid
* Magnesium (600 mg/day)
* Pay attention to gut health (probiotics, resistant starch, gelatin)
* Ate low carb for about a year (really focused on eating fat, and trying to get cholesterol up).
Any thoughts on what is going on here? My best guess is that the turmeric/NAC/ALA combo upped the glutathione in my body.

Do you have to take the NAC on an empty stomach? I'm not sure I'd want to do that before drinking. Or is empty stomach more of an optimal thing, but not necessary.
I tend to agree with you that it is the NAC that has had this effect. What's weird to me is that it might actually be an honest to goodness hangover cure...or at least the closest thing we got right now.

It absorbs the best on an empty stomach, but you can take it with food if you get an upset stomach. NAC really is a great compound. It even helps people with OCD. Also, if you ever overdose on acetaminophen, NAC is what hospitals will give you to protect your liver.
