Info on the nootropic value of mushroom extracts

Nootropic Depot just got 9 in today and I haven't heard of a single one of them.

Does anybody have any experience with them? Or better yet, any studies about effects? Are there some that are have been used for a longer time and others that are being used as a nootropic more recently?

I'm interested in where to start looking into this new stuff and all of my mushroom searches came up with Lions Mane.

What's the difference between the original ND Lions Mane and the Nammex Lions Mane?

u/MisterYouAreSoDumb · Ceretropic & Nootropics Depot

When I bought Nootropics Depot, I had never offered mushroom products before. So I just went with the same extract that ND was offering before, which is a 50% water 50% ethanol extract of Lion's Mane mycelium and fruiting bodies grown on a wood/straw substrate. Our supplier says it is mostly mycelium, though. I knew that I did not know anything about mushrooms, and I hate not being informed about everything I sell. So I set out to figure out what the best extract for Lion's Mane would be. That led me down the rabbit hole of all sorts of mushrooms.

There are two main active components of Lion's Mane, called hericenones and erinacines. The issue is that both hericenones and erinacines are found in the fruiting bodies, but hericenones are not found in the mycelium. So if you are only using the mycelium, you are only getting the erinacines. Doing a water and ethanol extraction leads to more of the active ingredients, but only if you use the whole mushroom. The other extract that we have up is a 50/50 extract, and has a lot of good anecdotes, but is not controlled throughout the production process like the Nammex ones. With the Nammex, you know exactly what parts of the mushroom are being used, that it is being grown on the appropriate substrate, and has all the active ingredients you are looking for.

So we had to deal with some pretty big lawsuits last year. I wish I could say that is new, but I deal with half a dozen lawsuits every year. I just settled one two days ago, in fact. I have two more I am dealing with rig

This is part of the wholesale price list for "Nammex", the supplier of mushroom powders that many companies repackage/encapsulate and sell for a huge profit margin

Replying to eclecticlove1 · So where do you get the powder for the 8:1 dual phase extract?

We have our own suppliers, just like we do for all our ND branded products. They make it to our specifications. Then we test them in our lab for ID, content, beta-glucans, heavy metals, and now residual solvent residues.

Why the lion's mane you're buying is probably bunk.

First off, our Lion's Mane is not a traditional water extract. The water is used to break down the chitin in the cell walls, but the entire mushroom material is kept in. So you don't lose anything that you would with a f

Is ND done launching new products?

We are absolutely NOT done with new products. We are in the thick of development for a bunch of them. Some of them are just taking longer than expected to get perfect, so we have had a lull in releases. That's just becau
