What's the consensus on breakfast and cognition?

As I was raised in a traditional family in the 90's, I was constantly told that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. Recently I've been experimenting with IF, and skipping breakfast sometimes. Although I cant conclude with anything, it doesn't seem to hurt my cognitive abilities, mood or energy.
So I was thinking that by the year of 2015, we'd sure have figured out the effects on the human body when you skip breakfast, right? So I googled it, and I found a ton of information, but it was all so conflicting. So I searched this sub, and I didn't find much information except for a few personal anecdotes.
It would be great to start a discussion on this sub about breakfast and it's effect on cognition, mood, energy and such.
Have a great day :)

I fast till 1-2pm most days, and I feel great. Most of the time, eating breakfast actually seems to hurt my cognition and motivation. That is on days when I am just working in the office. If I am going to go hiking or something, then I certainly feel better eating a good breakfast beforehand. It just depends on what type of activity you are doing.
