So, newmind was out of tianeptine sodium and the only form I could buy was the free acid. Now, I've read some disturbing reports online that it isn't active? Please, tell me this isnt true and it just has lower bioavailability?
Thanks in advance for answers.

I am speaking anecdotally when I say it seems like its longer lasting, although I can say that the different pharmacokinetics of the free acid are very apparent. The effects seem very smoothed out with the free acid, you don't feel a large spike of euphoria or "feeling better" as you would with the sodium version, which to my knowledge would indicate a longer half-life. I've tried taking it orally, which gives a subdued response and sublingually, which seems more remeniscent of the sodium salt.
The take away I get is this, a more acidic pH profile in the stomach is better for absorption. That's definitely good to know.

I am certainly going to run some testing on the various salts, and the free acid, to see how they differ in effects. There are other salts too, which have differing absorption characteristics. A mixture of a few would give the most ideal pharmacodynamics; kind of like Adderall does with amphetamine salts. If the cheapest and easiest form to make (free acid) gives good effects, why would pharma companies be messing around with a bunch of different salts? Seems strange, but could just be one of those things people overlooked.
