Unhealthy lifestyle was not the cause of my depression, but a symptom of it.
Here Here! I am sick of every topic in this sub having someone post "exercise more, eat right, try keto/paleo" etc. People who are depressed can barely deal with keeping their life going they are not going to jump on an exercise bike and suddenly feel better.
it also ignores people unable to exercise. I used to be very active between skateboarding, marital arts and off road motorcycling. A road accident smashed up my knee taking years before i could start things back up again. I then started doing all those things again until the pain got too much (all three are hard on the knee's).
Now i can't even do static cycling without being in pain for a week. Exercise for me is a balance between keeping healthy, being in pain and not turning into an opiate addict whilst dealing with pain. Telling someone in a similar situation + depression to get up and exercise is a joke. I struggle without depression and there are people dealing with a lot worse then me.
