A Puritan Work Ethic is the only reason to *not* seek out a free lunch with drugs.

If there was a magic pill that reduced feelings of avolition and increased discipline, we should take it. We should hope to be able to change the homeostasis of our brains.
I do not think we are there yet, but if you are okay with ~~transhumanist~~ self-improvement ideals, you should hope that a magic pill that "cheapens hard work" comes along. The work itself has no value and we shouldn't fetishize it.

I know how this sub feels about vyvanse/adderall. They really give me the motivation and focus to execute and see things through that previously I would have great ambition but no follow through on.

A lot of people get defensive when the drawbacks of amphetamine are brought up. It's understandable, given the nature of how some people depend on it. However, just because people bring up the risks of neurotoxicity, tolerance, and dependence, does not mean they are completely against its use.
People love to go all or nothing into conversations. Either it is perfectly safe and effective, or it is neurotoxic and damaging to one's health. It's polarizing, and for good reason. Amphetamine use can certainly ruin people's lives. It can also drastically improve it. It just depends on the person, the dosage, and the length of time used. I think it would benefit everyone if discussions about drugs like amphetamine are gone about in a less polarizing manner. There are risks and long term health effects to even therapeutic amphetamine use. That is pretty clear. There are also benefits that outweigh those risks in some people; and even ways to protect oneself from it. Blindly glorifying or demonizing it, based on personal experience, is not constructive.
