What does the Muslim faith determine is a drug? Is caffeine a drug? Does it have to be natural? Alcohol is natural, but I know that is not allowed in Islam. So where is the distinction? I am under the impression that the distinction is a drug is something that alters your perception. But that is such a cloudy way to look at things. Everything alters your perception. Eat a lot of carbs, and you will have an insulin spike. That will make you tired, and alter your perception. Is bread a drug?
Honestly, religion is more of a matter of personal distinctions. Very few people follow all the teachings of any given religion. So that means they dictate their actions from a personal set of rules; which may be more or less heavily influenced by their exposure to certain parts of their respective religions. So the real question is: where do you personally draw the line?
