Very confused about NAC.. Is it pro-glutamanergic or anti-glutamanergic? Pro-dopaminergic or anti-dopaminergic? All I see is 'modulates glutamate and dopamine' which isn't much help

Either way, too high a dose makes me feel depressed but I want to know what exactly it's doing.

So i'm a noob at this. I understood most of this except for what function in the body that improves. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It is used mainly to improve your antioxidant defenses. It is given to people who overdose on Acetaminophen because of that. There may be some detrimental effects to the heart with long term use, though. I use it before going out drinking, and it works great for that. I take L-Arginine/L-Citruline, so I have never noticed the nitrate effects.
