Accuracy of Genetic Genie methylation analysis

Original post in this thread

I recently learned of the 23andme genome interpretation service offered at www.geneticgenie.org. The website states:
> This website looks at your methylation genetics just by reading your 23andMe raw data. After you receive your results from 23andMe, click on the Methylation Analysis link, follow the simple instructions, and you’ll see some of your methylation-related genetic polymorphisms.
>
> Studies have shown that DNA Methylation can be altered with vitamins such as B12, Folate, SAMe, and other methyl donors.

If it's true, it would allow for optimized supplementation to correct genetic abnormalities. I've already ordered a kit from 23andme and am awaiting its arrival, but I wanted to get the opinion of the Nootropic community. Might this work? Or is it just pseudoscience?

Here's my list from Genetic Genie

If it matters, I'm troubleshooting the cause of what will probably end up being diagnosed as idiopathic hypersomnia. That diagnosis is not very helpful, especially since the usual treatment is modafinil, which I'm a non-responder for.

It looks like you have trouble breaking down neurotransmitters after they are used. So most likely your DA, NE, and 5-HT receptors are down-regulated, due to the higher than normal amounts of their ligands. You might also have slightly higher levels of homocysteine than normal, due to being a slow metabolizer. However, those mutations are not homozygous.

So you might want to supplement with some folate, B6, and B12. Then you should take some things to up-regulate your DA, NE, and 5-HT receptors. Saint John's Wort can help up-regulate serotonin receptors. CDP-choline and uridine can help up-regulate dopamine receptors, and Benadryl can up-regulate beta adrenic receptors. That last one might not be the best long term, but I cannot think of anything else right now.

Tried adderall yesterday, was my experienced normal? Hoping to find a good alternative.

Replying to [deleted] · You have nothing to feel guilty about. Drug usage isn't inherently morally wrong. Adderall can be used in moderation with little negative effect, or so I've read. NMDA antagonists

Yeah, Agomelatine is pretty subtle in the 5-HT2C department. I am going to try and work on brining out a selective 5-HT2C antagonist with higher affinity. I have not decided on a compound yet, though.

You could, but you would lose the cellular membrane support from the Alpha-GPC. TAU also works better than the increase in cytidine from the citicoline. I find that lower doses of Alpha-GPC work better with TAU than a si

CDP-Choline and upregulating D2 dopamine receptors

/u/NootropicsDepotGuru's response above is exactly what I would say. It's the uridine content of CDP-choline that leads to the D2 up-regulation. Alpha-GPC and choline L-bitartrate don't have any uridine, so they would no
