Tried adderall yesterday, was my experienced normal? Hoping to find a good alternative.

Yesterday I took 10mg of adderall, and honestly I felt more productive and friendly than I have in years. I know this is pretty typical though, and so I'm afraid i'm trying to rationalize taking a potentially dangerous drug. I also don't want to self diagnose myself with adhd, because apparently that is pretty common these these days. For me, anything that requires patience feels like an eternity, which I can probably somewhat attribute to an internet addiction. I'm the kinda person who always has a million tabs open reading about a bunch of unrelated random stuff. I typically lose track of conversations very quickly because of a ton of invasive thoughts (usually negative/anxious ones) pop into my head. Yesterday I was actually able to hold, what i consider normal conversations though, with people I care about! It was really eye opening, almost like I've been missing out on great things they have to say because my own thoughts get in the way. I typically blame not being able to pay attention to others on being selfish, but after yesterday, i'm not so sure.
From what I've been reading on here, modafinil seems like it would be the most beneficial since I always feel mentally exh…

You have nothing to feel guilty about. Drug usage isn't inherently morally wrong.
Adderall can be used in moderation with little negative effect, or so I've read. NMDA antagonists can be used to prevent an increase in tolerance, so you won't have to increase your dosage which will help mitigate negative effects. Dopaminergics really can humanize you in my experience.
You had a positive experience. And you can continue to reap benefits if you use the drug wisely. As for an alternative, I haven't found one. There's sulbutiamine, but I think it's effects on DAT may make it more toxic than Adderall in some ways. ~~Perhaps look into phenylpiracetam, which I've read agonizes D2 receptors. But that too should be used in moderation.~~ Perhaps this is true. Or perhaps you could better yourself by increasing your baseline dopaminergic functioning. CDP-choline or a combination of uridine, Alpha-GPC and DHA can increase the density of dopamine receptors. I believe the same is true for low dose NMDA antagonist regimens.
