It would be a cool test to use this strain.
If you actual do decide to test the NR producing yeast, I've been doing some reading, and the strain that I pointed you to may not be the most appropriate one. It is a haploid mating type alpha. If I understand what I read, then it only divides by mitosis, and the number of such divisions are limited. A more appropriate strain may be http://www.atcc.org/products/all/4021847.aspx. This strain, I believe, will reproduce by meiosis when the food supply is low; which by some magic resets some internal counter that is restricting the number of cell divisions by mitosis.

Interesting. I admittedly do not know as much as I would like about yeast reproduction. I should really look into it, as yeast is a pretty big part of the beer.
