Best time to take phenibut?

I'm going out tomorrow night, just wondering what would people recommend as the best time to dose phenibut? I'm still experimenting with it, and have had mixed results. I was thinking of just .500 grams a couple of hours before going out, but I'm wondering would it be worth taking .500 before bed tonight, the same in the morning, and the same before going out?
Also interested in hearing how people dose phenibut in general, do you topup during the day or just take one dose either in the morning or evening and thats it?
Thanks

According to (1) phenibut increases the density of striatal GABA-A receptors in rats, while the density of GABA-B is decreased.
Theanine isn't really comparable, but at least you can take it as much as you want to.
I've never tried kava, but isn't it more of a recreational thing?

The GABA-B down-regulation is the issue with phenibut, since its action is GABA-B agonism.
Kava does not bind to GABA receptors directly, but is more of an allosteric modulator of GABA-A. This is why it actually gets more effective over time.
I have not tried phenibut, so I cannot comment on the subjective differences in how they feel. However, kava definitely alleviates stress when I take it.
L-theanine is more of a subtle GABA modulator, as it merely increases your body's natural GABA production.
