Yeah, that pretty much matches what I have experienced personally. The mood elevation effects went away after a few weeks of daily use. The energy increase dropped off quite a bit as well. Still works, but I was assuming quite a bit of either receptor down-regulation or uptake increase (or a combination of the two) had kicked in.

I notice that the positive effect from modafinil fade fairly quickly for me. I also take a lot of antihistamines, so I am not sure how much that is blunting the histaminergic effects that modafinil has. Although I don't really need the wakefulness as much anymore. I have things under control now that I am addressing my methylation issues.
