Does anyone have experience taking L-Theanine by itself without caffeine?

What they were answering

shrillthrill · 8 points

I've taken l-theanine without caffeine for over a year. So have several people I know off reddit. No drowsiness, no headache or confusion, just seems to help us cope better.

Positive effects on improving irritability and anxiety.

L-theanine is my go-to supplement to take if I have overdone it with any stimulant. I also have my mother taking it for her anxiety, and she has had massive improvements. The L-theanine, along with bacopa, has allowed her to get over her fear of flying. Not completely, but enough to allow her to take trips.

What is the best nootropic for someone looking primarily for a boost of energy and motivation that's stronger than caffeine but less extreme than amphetamines?

6mg of melatonin is too much. I take .5-1mg. Melatonin has been shown to be much more effective at lower doses. Lower your dose and see how that works. 6mg would mean a very hard time waking up, and hours of foggyness in

Replying to awaitingsanity · Great intel. I was thinking about replacing piracetam with noopept in my stack. Do they seem to "go well" together or would you recommend one over the other?

I'd say they go well together. I found that 10mg noopept, 450mg oxiracetam, 200mg caffeine, 150mg L-theanine, and 200mg Bacopa was a very good stack. You could probably switch out the oxiracetam for 1,600mg piracetam wit
