Hi. Newbie here. Thank you for all that trail-blazed before me. I read a lot here before I ever spent a dime. I am 38 and exercise regularly. I give myself a 7 on a scale 1-10 where ten is the best re: diet quality. I always do the multi-vitamin and basic nutrition supplements thing. Always get plenty of veggies. I usually get 8 hours of sleep. I have been settled at 2-3 cups of very dark coffee in the morning for a long time. Sometimes if I only had 2 in the morning I'll have another after lunch. I also sometimes need a night cap or a shot of ZzzQuil (Diphenhydramine) to go to sleep at a decent hour.
I have traditionally been an herbal remedy skeptic and tried things like Ginko before with no result so was discouraged but after reading about these things over and over here and then vetting elsewhere, I decided on this progression:
* Week 1: L-Theanine (200mg w/coffee), Rhodiola Rosea (500mg in morning) & Melatonin
* Week 2: Piracetam & Choline
* Week 3: Moda or Armo (only 1x/wk. alternate weeks a couple times to see differences)
* Eventually (after we conceive a child later this year or early next year, hopefully): Bacopa monniera
Week 1 almost complete.

I've started recently and I am on a pretty similar stack currently (minus the Rhodiola), mostly to deal with sleep issues. I'm a natural night owl forced into a day schedule. My employer is already very accomodating; I get a rather late day schedule, so I thought I should find a solution that enables me to give a good performance.
I'm taking 5 mg melatonin before sleep and 3x a day (200 mg L-theanine + 100 mg caffeine).
I know the melatonin dose is big, but all the supplement brands I saw at the drugstore were 5mg, so I thought it would be a good dose to start with. And it's been working good for me so far. I used to have a highly varying sleep schedule; anywhere between 8 hours and 2 hours of sleep a night. I've stuck a compromise thanks to the melatonin; I can put myself to sleep and reliably get a high quality 6 hours of sleep. Some grogginess in the morning, but it's way better than waking up feeling like I hadn't slept at all. And it's nothing a shower, followed by caffeine + l-theanine can't get rid of. This side effect is getting weaker as the days go by. Hopefully the desired effects will remain as well, else I'll try a lower dose.
For the caffeine + L-theanine, it's pretty hard to describe how I feel since I've started. It's important to note that this is actually a pretty big decrease in my caffeine intake compared to before, as I used to guzzle coffee, tea a…

At least cut the pills in quarters. 5mg is too high for nightly dosing. You will build a tolerance to it at that amount.
