MDMA is only a weak 5-HT agonist... it causes the release of serotonin, which then goes on to agonize 5-HT receptors, but MDMA itself is not a strong agonist.

Correct. But it's not an antagonist. We were talking about it's effects on the gastrointestinal tract, which would be related to it's agonism of certain 5-HT sub-receptors. The release of 5-HT due to reversal of the SERT is it's main neurological effect. However, that would not be what is causing the GI upset.
