Can the theanin and caffeine in green tea even be extracted from the leaves by our digestive system?

I was wondering because it is often recommended in this subreddit that instead of drinking green tea, one should just eat the leaves to make sure to lose no nutrients, since you ingested all. Now I read somewhere that this does for example not work with marihuana, which needs to be smoked or solved in alkohol or fat.
So can anyone give me a hint? I just bought 2,5 kg green tea and want to use it the right way :)

Are you being serious, or is this a joke?
EDIT: I might as well just answer you as if you are serious. First off, why did you buy 2.5kg of green tea leaves? Second, where have you seen people on this subreddit suggesting that you should just eat the leaves? I've seen exactly the opposite. In fact, a post about this was made earlier today. You should not eat any raw plant matter that is not meant for consumption.

Make green tea like people have been for thousands of years. You are not going to get much caffeine from it when brewed the appropriate time. You can get higher caffeine content if you brew longer, but then you also get a more bitter taste from the tannins.
