$500? That's ridiculous. I got pulled over for driving 115 in a 70 here in TX. Luckily I didn't go to jail and was only issued a $300 ticket (maximum allowed). I happily paid it knowing it could have been a lot worse.

I was literary in the middle of nowhere driving to Vegas in my friends civic. I was the only one on the road, and the officer was driving the other direction and supposedly lasered me while driving. He turned around and came after me. He said it took him 5 minutes just to catch up. The first thing out of his mouth was, "you could have killed someone!" I was like, "who, that tumbleweed back there?" There was nobody else out there! I told him the most dangerous part of the whole thing was his turn around and pursuit. I could have gone to court and probably gotten it reduced, but I would have had to fly to boulder city. Ain't nobody got time for that! I left Vegas ahead $250, so it softened the blow.
