MDMA preload - magnesium and 5-htp

Original post in this thread

So my dentist told me im sort of a tooth grinder. Nothing major, and pretty surely unrelated to MDMA (i noticed that i do it pretty immediately after I left the office, very sober). But I definitely do grind my teeth when ON MDMA, and while I don't take it terribly often (about once every 2-3 months), i'd like to minimize grinding. My jaw often hurts the next day too.

So anyway I did some research and discovered that magnesium seems to help people with this and wanted to know what people's experiences were with dosage and effectiveness.

And also i found some info about 5-htp in these travels that contradicted with my previous knowledge - I thought you were supposed to load up on 5-htp the week before and the week after, but abstain from it the day you take the MDMA. Pretty sure I heard that here actually. Thoughts?

Use a highly bioavailable magnesium supplement before and during your roll. I prefer magnesium glycinate. However, you can use citrate, malate, L-theonate, taurate (especially good for 6-APB and cardiotoxicity), or orotate.

There is no reason to preload 5-HTP. If you are not leaving enough time in between rolls for your serotonin levels to rise naturally, then you are doing it too much. NEVER take it the day of your roll. Anyone who tells you to do that is a fucking idiot. Do you want serotonin syndrome? Because that's how you get serotonin syndrome...and ants. Take 5-HTP with EGCG for the 5 days following MDMA use. This is when your tryptophan hydroxylase levels are low, and your body needs help replenishing your stores. 5-HTP bypasses the tryptophan hydroxylase enzyme, and allows for rapid creation of 5-HT. It will also cause receptor down-regulation if you preload with your levels already steady. The only people that benefit from preloading 5-HTP are those that are doing MDMA a lot. Sure it can help replenish stores so that you can roll harder two weeks in a row. However, you are an idiot if you are doing that.

do you think ecstasy users underestimate the dangers of the drug (particularly hyperthermia-related issues)?

If using drugs makes your life objectively better, is that addiction, or just an intelligent decision?

10mg per day is not a large dose. You are exposing your brain to more stress, and most likely causing some damage. However, that damage is probably not significant. You may be taxing your adrenals. That is where adaptoge
