Why does Grapefruit Juice potentiate so many different drugs?

From morphine and ketamine all the way to caffeine; how come this is the case?
I've heard that white grapefruit juice is best and that juice from concentrate is even better.
Is this something which has been isolated and made available as a supplement / whatever it would be?

You seeem to know what you are talking about so there is a question I'm going to ask you. Can excitotoxicity occur from large amounts of other drugs besides MDMA? It seems like it happens from neurons being overstimulated.
I ask this because last week I kind of overdosed myself on 25i and I'm wondering if it is at all possible that I destroyed neurons in the process? At the worst part of the experience it definitely had a toxic feel to it so I'm a little concerned. I mean I feel okay, but I'd hate to think that I possibly actually damaged my brain in any way

Yes, it can happen from any drug that causes a release of extracellular glutamate. There is also cardiotoxicity when your peripheral norepiniephrine levels rise too much. There are a lot of different ways that certain drugs can damage different cells in your body.
