Bupropion (Wellbutrin) as a nootropic?

I was doing some research, and it turns out that Wellbutrin, which is commonly prescribed as an anti-depressant and as a quit-smoking aid, is actually considered substituted phenethylamine (notice anything else on that list?). It's not an SSRI or anything in that class, instead it works through norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibition. Essentially it should increase the amount of dopamine in your system. Off-label it's been used for ADHD, sexual dysfunction, even weight loss. It's safe except for a slight increase of the chance of seizure.

that may be true but had not been my experience or that of people i know. the side effects are you get leaner and your libido improves. it's not addictive because it takes a long time to build up.
it does have one serious side effect which is seizures. but i have not experienced that having beg on it for years at 300mg xr brandname. and none of the people i know on it have experienced that either.
i think it's a lot better than any addictive substance. but i know that's probably an unfavorable opinion

I would say it's better than a lot of the other antidepressants out there. I probably wouldn't put it into the nootropic category, though. Do you have any studies showing any cognitive improvement?
