Modafinil Tolerance?

Original post in this thread

So I've been taking 200mg of Modafinil (Modalert) daily now for around 3 weeks.

The first 2 weeks have been very good, everything as expected (less sleep required, improved focus and concentration, more organized, etc.), but over the third week the effects have seemed to have completely worn off. I had a few side effects at first, such as headaches, dry mouth, slight insomnia and appetite loss; but these side effects subsided within the first week. I wasn’t bothered at all about the appetite loss as I’m also trying to lose weight so if anything that side effect was beneficial.

I'm now on week 4 and am seeing no benefits to taking the Modafinil whatsoever. It would appear as if I have built up a tolerance to it but I’ve done a bit of research and it seems that you can’t actually build a tolerance to Modafinil (that’s what the forums and manufacturers say at least), so I am tempted to increase the dosage up to 1.5 or maybe 2 tablets a day (300 / 400mg).

A few people on different forums seem to suggest that although you can’t build a tolerance to Modafinil, the plasma concentration reaches a steady level because of the long half-life (12 hours), so the effects are much less ob…

Another thing you have to consider is that modafinil induces some of your CYP450 enzymes. After a while of steady dosing, your enzymes will metabolize the modafinil, as well as other substances more quickly. Taking time off gives your enzymes a chance to return to normal.

Replying to jjhurley · This stuff is dangerous. Many people have gone to doses over 100mg several times a day and had as much trouble kicking it as an opiate habit. Enjoy but be very careful.

Anything is dangerous in too high of amounts. 100mg is not a smart dose, just like a gram of modafinil is not a smart dose. The same goes for caffeine and even water. That does not mean it is inherently dangerous. That j
