Modafinil in the morning - Melatonin at night. Your thoughts?

I have decided to start 200mg Modafinil in the morning when I wake up. I have been reading about it for several days (user accounts, general information, forums etc) and think that various symptoms I have would benefit from it.
I generally have trouble with regular sleeping times and so I am going to try to help regulate this with Melatonin.
Many reviews have suggested that regular Modafinil use over a period of time stops being effective so I'm going to dose every second day or so. Sometimes less sometimes more. Anyone with similar experiences, I would be very keen to hear from you.
I suffer from depression and depersonalisation yet am switched on and self aware. I know what I need and want to do with my time but find it so hard to focus, maintain enthusiasm or commit to anything for a period of time.
I am putting a lot of faith in this avenue of self medication.

Thanks for your quick reply. As I said I am really unfamiliar with the concept of Nootropic Stacks, how much they cost and so on. I'd really like to get coffee out of my diet altogether. These things (choline, piracetam) are they legal? Are they used widely? What kind of physical side effects do they have? I am totally new to this area. I have used (illegal) drugs of all kinds a lot in the past and am not unfamiliar with drug/brain interactions, dependancy, interactions etc.

First off where do you live? Piracetam is legal most everywhere, save for Australia. It's prescription there for god knows what reason.
Piracetam is safe, and has almost no side effects. The only common one is headaches, but that is what the choline is for. You will take the choline if piracetam gives you a headache. I don't even need choline when I take racetams, save for maybe once every couple weeks if I get a headache. In fact, last week was the first time I ever have had a racetam headache. But I was on noopept and oxiracetam for weeks with zero choline, and those are much stronger than piracetam. It can also make you tired the first week or so that you use it.
Don't just stop caffeine, taper down your dosage. I'd stop drinking coffee and get caffeine pills. It's $10 for 100 pills, and you can dose exactly. Try and taper your dosage down to somewhere below 100mg per day. If you stop cold turkey, you will have withdrawals. Not like opiate withdrawals, but not pleasant.
There's a lot of info on here, so keep searching. I'd start with piracetam and go from there.
