I was driving down the freeway on Thanksgiving one year, going the speed limit. There was a cop about half a mile in front of me. Suddenly he slammed on his brakes. I changed lanes and passed him, then he pulled me over.

While I agree, the poverty line here in the US is slightly higher than many countries. I've seen things in Egypt, Mexico, India, Africa etc. that are on a whole other scale.

This is what I was thinking. Perhaps the cycles will shift or change entirely, given our new ability to transfer knowledge faster. Why do the cycles always have to be the same, or happen at all, regardless of innovation
