TIL: That in 1991 Spacewatch discovered an artificial body near earth that is now listed on the NASA Astrophysics data system as a possible alien probe that was observed in the vicinity of our planet. It's orbit will bring it back to the earth in 2016.

Aside from historical reasons, the point was that we're stupid with our contractors. We don't have the plans for the A-10 Thunderbolt either, yet that plane has been pretty well regarded for the decades it's been in service. There's currently no planned replacement and we can't build new ones.

I'm just saying that I hope we avoid the mistakes of our predecessors in this sense.

TIL that in 1916 an amendment was proposed to the Constitution that all acts of war would be put to a national vote. People voting yes would have to register as volunteers for service in the United States Army.

Because their taxes will also pay for the war. The amendment has to many holes to implement properly.

Replying to Forlarren · Except those engines are some of the best. Not having the best would directly affect the bottom line, so they try to keep them running in tip top shape to save fuel costs.

Best efficiency on fuel use, not on cleanliness of emissions!
