Did shipping just get even more expensive?

As you can see here the "Handling" adds so much extra on top of the shipping price, $56 for Fedex and $67 for DHL which is honestly nuts. It's a lot lower if I choose the much slower "Standard Worldwide Mail" shipping method and is only $2 then. I'm confused because this extra handling price didn't happen with my previous orders which I used Fedex for, did something change?

Damn... that's really unfortunate. I don't even live in a remote area, I live in one of the biggest urban areas in my country so getting those extra "remote area" shipping fees is absolutely wild. Do you guys have any idea of why this is happening? Is this because of tariffs or what?

It's based on the routes the private carriers have. While you might not consider it a remote area in the absolute sense, it might be remote from the routes the carriers have in the area. This is why all these changes to the official mail services of countries are so bad. Most private carriers only go where it is profitable to go, leaving it up to Posten Bring for Norway, or USPS for people in the US, to deliver on the non-profitable routes around the country. With our government making enemies of everyone else, and the craziness in using the normal mail services, people are going to start relying more and more on private carriers. However, for them it is all about profit, not servicing all the cities where people live.
