Agmatine drama

There is lately few people sharing fear on various subforums that agmatine promote colon cancer and gave gastritis, increase h.pylori etc.
I remember back on the days claiming that agmatine reactivate herpes.
I take it for 3 years straight daily dosages 250-750mg, it depends on day.
I would say this is incredible stuff.
With cordyceps militaris my alltime fave.
This is some new study that claoms completely different that it's speculated:
Agmatine modulation of gut-brain axis alleviates dysbiosis-induced depression-like behavior in rats

Agmatine is produced primarily by beneficial gut microbes like Lactobacillus and modulates neurotransmitter systems, suggesting its potential relevance to mental health disorders, including depression. Its metabolism in peripheral organs like the liver, kidneys, and intestine, as well as its direct actions within the brain, underscore its multifaceted role in the pathophysiology of depression. Recent evidence indicates that agmatine directly influences the gut microbiota composition and functions.
I enjoy agmatine so much and have few years experience taking it that this…

Whats with the rumor that agmatine (like all nmda antagonists) raise histamine?

As with everything, it gets complex. The strongest evidence for agmatine's ability to increase histamine comes from a study that found that agmatine can concentration-dependently induce the release of histamine from histamine-storing cells in the stomach. This effect appears to occur through a specific mechanism, potentially via imidazoline receptors.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10619189/
Interestingly, at certain receptor sites, agmatine may actually antagonize histamine. Research indicates that agmatine can block histamine at the polyamine binding site of the NMDA receptor. This suggests that the agmatine-histamine relationship is complex and may involve both stimulatory and inhibitory interactions depending on the specific receptor system involved. Agmatine and histamine share some metabolic pathway connections as well. One possible pathway of metabolism for agmatine involves the diamine oxidase (DAO) enzyme, which is the same enzyme responsible for breaking down histamine. To further complicate things, some of agmatine's effects that might be mistaken for histamine-related symptoms actually occur through histamine-independent mechanisms. For instance, a study on agmatine-induced itch found that it produces this sensation through histamine-independent pathways.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10016355/
So this could also be why some people think it is increasing histamine, when the itch they are getting is independent of histamine levels itself. I will say that I have a histamine disorder, and I do not notice any issues when taking agmatine. I am also on Zyrtec every day, so that might affect things, though.
