There is lately few people sharing fear on various subforums that agmatine promote colon cancer and gave gastritis, increase h.pylori etc.
I remember back on the days claiming that agmatine reactivate herpes.
I take it for 3 years straight daily dosages 250-750mg, it depends on day.
I would say this is incredible stuff.
With cordyceps militaris my alltime fave.
This is some new study that claoms completely different that it's speculated:
Agmatine modulation of gut-brain axis alleviates dysbiosis-induced depression-like behavior in rats
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0014299924005739
Agmatine is produced primarily by beneficial gut microbes like Lactobacillus and modulates neurotransmitter systems, suggesting its potential relevance to mental health disorders, including depression. Its metabolism in peripheral organs like the liver, kidneys, and intestine, as well as its direct actions within the brain, underscore its multifaceted role in the pathophysiology of depression. Recent evidence indicates that agmatine directly influences the gut microbiota composition and functions.
I enjoy agmatine so much and have few years experience taking it that this…

[Quote]But then it caused after 3 years of daily usage of chronic gastritis and pain in my colon for a very long time. There are also research papers about it.
It started with 1 month of gastritis, it took a long time to realize that it comes from agmatine. Because it doesn't cause directly pain after consumption. (Back then)
There are also post from other people.
The first 3 years where with zero side effects, now even after two years break I always get for 2 days stomach pain after taking a single dose agmatine.

It increases also gastric juice (probably caused my gastris) and helicobacter bacteria grows also stronger if you take agmatine. And again it's not just my personal experience.
My colon was also inflamed I had multiple endoscopies.
Yeah i actually stopped cuz of the stomach ulcer risk.

That post is linking the study I linked above, and misinterpreting the data. The agmatine levels were elevated in that mouse model because the bacteria in the system were producing it. It was not a causative factor. It sounds like that dude had an untreated H. pylori infection that he let go on for too long. His other statements are completely unfounded. Based on the scientific evidence, there isn't direct support for the claim that taking agmatine supplements would make H. pylori grow stronger. H. pylori possesses an enzyme called agmatine deiminase (HpAgD), which catalyzes the conversion of agmatine to N-carbamoyl putrescine and ammonia. This is probably part of the issue. It's not the agmatine. It's the H. pylori increasing agmatine production, then converting it into ammonia through HpAgD. The issue is H. pylori, though.
