Why not capules all the time

Products like kava and cistanche are not encapsulated and have a rough texture which makes them difficult to swallow.
It seems like they're made this way to be chewed, but they don't taste good and stick to teeth.

Any examples of products that “compress strangely”? That’s an interesting sounding issue.

Isoliquiritigenin, berberine, certain magnesium forms, etc. It also depends on the machine. Sometimes we can make something work on an automatic capsule filling machine using slugs, but not in a free-flowing semi-auto encapsulation machine. The issue is that we can't really use the auto machine unless we are doing a million capsules or more at a time, due to the setup and cleanup time of the machine. So it also depends on what we think demand for a product will be. There is a lot that goes into formulation of finished goods.
