My favorite was basis because they were low sugar, tasted decent, and actually felt pretty hydrating. But I think the average consumer wanted more flavor and that was a common complaint I saw about them in reviews.
Once I saw they stopped selling all their products on the site, I looked over other electrolyte products and tried dripdrop next. It wasn’t as hydrating and I felt like some hot days I needed two but it was cheaper. Also the flavors all tasted a bit much and overly sweet.
Then I tried liquid IV very recently as I was running low on dripdrop and it seems to be the most popular one because it’s the only one I’ve noticed people actually talk about in my day-to-day life. Also one of the few I’ve seen make it to stores and not just online. It was the worst tasting one…. So incredibly sugary I had to force myself to drink it! I couldn’t even focus on whether it hydrated me because the flavor was overpowering. So I guess I can see why it’s so popular, America loves sweet things. Also not a fan they put b vitamins in there as there are days I’ll take infini-b that I don’t want any more supplemental b vitamins. My body seems to only be able to handle every other day usage of infini-b after all.

We were going to do a sugar-free one to start. I fast all day, so a lot of what we design is around staying in a fasted state. If I am out mountain biking or something, then some sugar wouldn't be unwarranted. However, I know many people want to stay hydrated but not break their fast. I do agree that our customer base seems to prefer efficacy over flavor, but most people won't take a drink mix if it tastes like total shit. Since we are in the desert, and the flavor does give a nice hydrating feeling, we were going to go with prickly pear. We still need to do beta testing, though. I will have to see how we can get the taste.
We are not putting in B vitamins. We have Infini-B for that. We are designing all the Infini series to work together.
