I don’t know how other supplement subs are still able to badmouth ND

I came across this post on the NMN sub:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NMN/comments/13wf0uz/changing_supplier_and_energy_levels/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&utm_content=2&utm_term=15

I cannot believe some of the quackery on here. ND has gone far and above to prove their purity… but even despite that a lot of people are making unfounded claims. The OP himself even said the NMN worked but thought maybe it was laced with something else for the energy.

I’m trying to start a supplement company. What do you recommend to someone who doesn’t have the luxury of making supplements in their own lab and has to work with manufacturers? I still want quality but how do I guarantee this? Thank u for setting the standard

My first suggestion would be to think long and hard about whether you really want to get into this industry. I actually hate it. I hate all the bad actors. I hate how everything is just lies and deceit. I hate how the people trying to do it right, be open and honest, and not participate in the BS lose out to the brands that just cut corners and pay for reviews and articles on themselves. The bulk of this industry is a complete scam. Sometimes I am even ashamed to be a part of it myself. I am super passionate about the science and the products, but I loath the industry itself.

If you really do want to get in it, you will need to use a contract manufacturer. They all suck, unfortunately. The ones that don't suck are 3X the price of the other ones. Your competitors won't give two shits about quality, so they will be using the cheap ones. It will be hard for you to be competitive on price doing it the right way. Then your competitors will pay for reviews talking their product up, and they will also pay for reviews saying bad stuff about yours. They might even use shady tactics to get your listings pulled, to slow down any momentum or sales velocity. They might DDOS your site, or use negative SEO to lower your rankings. They might pay for click bots to click on your ads and drive your costs up. If you are strong in your morals and convictions, you will just need to accept these realities and deal with paying more to make a good product.

If you do decide that is something you want, and find a good contract manufacturer that will not screw you, then you will need to convince your customers that paying more to ensure the quality of what they are putting into their bodies is worth it. That's next to impossible for the average person. Most people buy things because of how the marketing makes them feel. It's not a logical decision for most. It's emotional. This is why the shady marketing tactics work so well. You will have to overcome that, and get people to think logically about things. You will have to convince them that their heath is important enough to slow down a bit, and make sure they are buying a product that is what it claims to be. Even if you reach them, you will lose their attention in short order. It's an uphill battle, because most people don't realize just how much their emotions are affecting their buying decisions. Other brands will focus on the emotion, and you will lose the spotlight.

Of course this is all dependent on doing it the right way. If you just use the cheapest manufacturer, use flashy violative marketing, pay for reviews and affiliates to shill your product, and use shady tactics to bring down your competitors, then it is easy! You'd have to live with being morally bankrupt, but it would be a hell of a lot easier.
