It seems like the data is inconsistent. Some studies show it protects the liver.

Results of this study suggested that Skullcap may alleviate liver inflammatory reaction induced by liver toxicity.
It also seems like some of the cases have confounding factors.

A 30 year old man presented with acute onset jaundice. In the two weeks prior to admission, the patient consumed increasing amounts of a Yogi Tea blend containing skullcap. He had also binged on alcohol a week prior to admission drinking 24 beverages. He reported a family history of alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and cirrhosis.
So the dude drank TWENTY FOUR alcoholic drinks the week before, and his family has a history of cirrhosis. Sure, must be the skullcap... Like seriously, 24 fucking alcoholic drinks in one sitting?!?
