The subreddit itself is proof nootropics work

This just came across my mind, but this is the only Subreddit that I've ever came across (besides maybe r/Nootropics) that isn't toxic at all, no arguments, no mean people, no internet intellectuals, and at the same time everyone here is always kind, receptive, clear-headed, and open-minded. Considering this is reddit, that's damn near impossible. So clearly, the people of this subreddit are, to say, "getting high on Nootropic Depot's supply"😊, I mean shoot, the suburb is leaps and bounds more peaceful than even r/Meditation

I wouldn't necessarily attribute the discourse here to nootropics specifically. The reason this sub is currently like this is threefold: it's still relatively small, we moderate pretty strictly, and the average person coming here is more passionate about nootropics and the community behind it. I have been a moderator on /r/Nootropics for a long time, including when it was a much smaller community. It was more like you describe then, too. However, as subs grow they inevitably shift in tone and discourse level. Now that there are almost 300,000 subscribers on /r/Nootropics, you are going to have a lot larger cross-section of the average public. What comes along with that is more drama, unfortunately. It also brings in a lot of newer people to the community, which generally lowers the complexity of the discourse. This can sometimes frustrate people that have been in the community for a long time and cause them to post less. It results in a gradual shift in things over time. It's a difficult thing to address without going crazy like /r/science or /r/AskHistorians, though.
That said, it's not like there were not arguments on /r/Nootropics in the early days. There certainly were, and I was a part of many of them. However, mine centered mostly around companies not doing proper lab testing and quality control. That's the entire reason I got into all this, so I can be a bit passionate about it. I do appreciate people being kind and open-minded with each other. It really does lead to a better experience for everyone. I am happy that so far this community has been a good resource for people to interact in a friendly and open manner, and I hope to continue improving it as time goes on.
